Silk: History and Benefits | Maison Hind Kroussa Paris

Silk

Did you know that it was thanks to two monks that we discovered the secret of this imperial fiber?

Silk is a natural fiber of animal origin of rare nobility. Produced from the secretion of the silkworm ( Bombyx Mori ), it was discovered by the Chinese nearly 3000 years BC. They jealously guarded their monopoly for more than 30 centuries, until 552, the year in which two monks sent by Emperor Justinian succeeded in bringing eggs back to Europe.

A Lyon Heritage

In France, the history of silk is inextricably linked to the city of Lyon. It was François I who, in 1536, granted the city a monopoly on this precious fabric. Even today, Lyon remains the city of silk, perpetuating the tradition of the Canuts (silk weavers). It is because of this heritage of exceptional quality that the silk used in our creations comes exclusively from Lyon.

The Science of Fiber

Despite its extreme fineness, silk possesses surprising strength: its resistance is comparable to that of a steel wire of the same diameter. It also has exceptional elasticity, capable of stretching up to 15% before returning to its original shape.

The Cosmetic Benefits

Anti-blemish The natural enzymes in silk help regulate acne and allow the skin to breathe on a healthy antibacterial surface.
Hair Care Unlike cotton, silk allows hair to "glide", limiting friction and breakage during sleep.
Optimal Hydration Silk absorbs less night creams than other fibers, guaranteeing maximum effectiveness of your skincare.
Thermal Regulator A super natural insulator, it maintains the ideal body temperature, perfect for sensitive or inflamed skin.
