Hammered Velvets
An age-old symbol of prestige and power, velvet has transcended centuries to establish itself as the absolute icon of contemporary elegance.
Velvet has always been considered an extremely luxurious fabric. Its existence dates back thousands of years, symbolizing prestige, elegance, and wealth in many cultures. Now more accessible thanks to new weaving methods, it remains a staple of high-end ready-to-wear, returning to the forefront of fashion trends every year.
An exceptional weaving process
Velvet is the result of a complex process: two layers are woven together, one on top of the other, then joined by a second warp thread. This pile warp is then precisely cut to separate the two layers, creating the characteristic deep, vertical texture.
"Depending on the direction of the hair, the light sculpts the fabric: it can appear matte with incredible depth or vibrate with an intense shine."
The HIND KROUSSA signature: Hammered Cotton Velvet
Our creations are made from premium cotton velvet, also known as hammered velvet . This luxurious material is the centerpiece of several designs in our collection, such as the iconic Mona coat .
This type of velvet has an irregular moiré pattern that lends unique definition and depth to each piece. This finish is achieved through a manufacturing process that applies strong pressure to flatten the pile. Often enhanced with a touch of elasticity, it offers modern comfort without sacrificing its architectural structure.
