She has two older sisters, who are also very beautiful, but over whom Psyche far outweighs. However, unlike her sisters, she cannot find a husband. The crowds are content to come and contemplate her like a work of art and worship her like a goddess to the point of forgetting to celebrate Aphrodite.
The goddess, jealous of this rival and offended by such a sacrilege, orders Eros to make her fall in love with the most contemptible mortal there is.
As the god prepares to fulfill his mission, he himself falls in love with Psyche by injuring himself with one of his arrows.
