The Exhibition “Tribute to Madame Grès” – A Celebration of Craftsmanship at the Galerie du 19M
We are delighted to share with you an experience our founder enjoyed on Wednesday 5 July. As a member of the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Fashion and Design Club, she was invited to the “Tribute to Madame Grès”exhibition at the Galerie du 19M. This landmark event was made possible through the collaboration between the talented designer Mossi and the prestigious MoMADe campus. In this article, we invite you to immerse yourself in this world of haute couture and discover a captivating exhibition that celebrates exceptional craftsmanship.

The Pop-Up Haute Couture Workshop
At the heart of this exhibition lies the “pop-up haute couture workshop”, a unique project in its own right. Around twenty fashion students from vocational secondary schools had the opportunity to learn the gestures and savoir-faire of haute couture. The Paris Academy, the MoMADe campus, and designer Mossi Traoré joined forces to promote skills and vocational training within the fashion industry. Together, they created a laboratory for the transmission of the finest haute couture techniques, thus preserving the legacy of great names such as Madame Grès.
A tribute to Madame Grès
This exhibition pays homage to Madame Grès on the 30th anniversary of her passing. The students drew their inspiration from the work of this great couturière, renowned for her mastery of pleating and her references to antiquity. For Mossi Traoré, Madame Grès remains a fundamental source of inspiration. The creations born from this pop-up haute couture workshop are currently on display in the Studio at the Galerie du 19M. They are showcased alongside original pieces by Madame Grès, generously loaned by Olivier Châtenet, as well as tribute creations by Yohji Yamamoto and Olivier Saillard. It is a true immersion into the world of haute couture, where artisanal excellence meets contemporary creativity.

A Captivating Exhibition
In addition to the “Tribute to Madame Grès” exhibition, our founder also had the privilege of discovering another fascinating display, originally presented in Dakar and now featured at the Galerie du 19M. This exhibition merges embroidery and weaving – two crafts in which Senegal excels – with other artistic disciplines and mediums of contemporary creation. It offers an immersive journey across eras and territories, highlighting a variety of materials, techniques, styles, and symbols.
The “Tribute to Madame Grès” exhibition at the Galerie du 19M is an unmissable experience for lovers of haute couture. It embodies the spirit of collaboration and the transmission of savoir-faire that drives our industry. We are proud to see young talent flourish and to contribute to preserving the legacy of great names such as Madame Grès.
